Despite economic hardship, pent up demand is growing: On March 30th, half (51%) of Americans said they weren’t planning any major purchases once businesses reopen, today only a third (36%) say the same .
Similar to American views around March 15th, Americans are still quite concerned about the economy, the health of older friends and relatives, health of broader American populace and their personal health. Yet, numbers are down since April 5th.
- A strong majority of Americans are concerned about the impact the coronavirus has on the American economy (88%), the health of their older friends and relatives (86%), and the health of the broader American populace (83%).
- Concern about the American economy has increased 4 points since March 15th (84%) and 3 points since April 5th (91%).
- Concern about the health of older friends and relatives has decreased 4 points since April 5th (90%).
- Concern about the health of the broader American populace has increased 4 points since March 15th (79%) and decreased 4 points since April 5th (87%).
- Nearly three-quarters of Americans (74%) are concerned about the impact the coronavirus has on their personal health.
- Concern has increased 9 points since March 15th (65%) and decreased 3 points since April 5th (77%).
- Nearly 7 in 10 Americans (69%) are concerned about the impact the coronavirus has on their personal finances.
- Concern has decreased 6 points since April 5th (75%).
Compared to March 15th, more Americans are saying they fear dying as a result of the coronavirus. And, compared to April 5th more Americans say they do not fear dying.
- Just over half of Americans (51%) fear they could die as a result of contracting coronavirus, an increase of 24 points since March 15th (27%).
Just under half of Americans (49%) say they do not fear that they could die as a result of coronavirus; an increase of 5 points since April 5th (44%) but a decrease of 24 points since March 15th (73%).
