Zoom happy hours may replace the bar: 67% are more likely to have a virtual happy hour with friends vs going to a bar for happy hour (33%) 

  • But some GenZ/Millennials still want their social life IRL; While 59% are more likely to do a virtual happy hour; 41% are likely to do happy hour at the bar vs only 37% of 35-49; 29% 50-64 and 21% of 65+
  • 74% miss in-person gatherings with friends/family, highest among older Americans who rely on family and socialization in retirement (78%) 

While nearly 4 in 10 miss going to the gym/work out class (37%) a whopping 85% are more likely to exercise at home vs going to back to their local gym (15%); 

  • GenZ/Millennials are most hopeful to return to their normal gym (23% vs 13% of 35-49, 8% 50-64 and 14% of 65+) 

Nearly 8 in 10 are more likely to watch a movie at home vs going to the movies (21%)  even though over 4 in 10 miss going to the movie theatre (44%) 

  • 81% of women vs 76% of men more likely to watch movie at home 
  • 70% of GenZ/Millennials vs 89% of 65+
  • People living in the South (82%) and Midwest (81%) more likely to watch a movie at home vs North East (71%) and West (77%)
  • GenZ/Millennials miss going to the movie theatre the most, (54% vs 25% of 65+)

Sports and concerts go livestream: Even though 46% miss attending sporting event/concerts, nearly three quarters (73%) are more likely to Live stream sporting events/concerts at home vs Attend live sporting events/a live concert (27%)

  • Even 73% men are more likely to livestream sports even though 48% of men said they miss attending sporting events 

While 70% miss dining out at a restaurant/bar, 65% are more likely to get take-out from a restaurant vs dining in a restaurant (35%) 

Carryout over UberEats 

  • Order takeout from a restaurant and pick it up yourself (66%) vs Order food delivery from an app (34%) 
  • However, Gen Z/Millennials are more likely to do both (51% takeout vs 49% delivery apps) vs 50-64 (82% takeout vs 18% delivery apps) and 65+ (79% takeout vs 21% delivery apps)

Nearly 6 in 10 (57%) are more likely to buy their own grooming supplies vs going to the hairdresser (43%) 

  • 61% of men vs 54% women are more likely to buy their own grooming supplies over going to the hairdresser (39% and 46% respectively)
  • 64% of GenZ/Millennials vs 52% of 65+
  • 67% of HHI <$50k

But there are some aspects of life pre-COVID that the public wants to resume in person… Such as in-person doctor appointments (64%) over virtual doctor appointments (36%) and shopping in store for groceries (73%) vs ordering home delivery (27%)

  • While majority of Gen Z/Millennials plan on buying groceries in person (65%), over a third of Millennials say they will Order home delivery groceries vs only 17% of 50-64 and 18% of 65+
