Americans remain guarded on re-opening the economy. In today’s Harris Poll, they caution against easing-off restrictions too soon: Over 8 in 10 (84%) are concerned this will cause a surge in coronavirus cases while nearly three quarters (74%) say the number of cases should have to go down before Americans can return to work; (67%) say a proper testing place.
We also asked, “Based on what you know and have heard, when do you think Americans should start returning to work and life as normal?”
- 9%: 1-2 weeks from now
- 23%: 3-4 weeks from now
- 51%: More than a month
- 18%: More than six months from now
- 61% of all Republicans say it should be at least a month before Americans start returning to work and life as normal
