According to recent air travelers, the overall flying experience is improving. From flight reliability to aircraft amenities, both business and leisure travelers are generally satisfied with their experience and often prefer air travel over other means of long-distance transportation. While this may be good news for airlines, factors beyond their control – including passengers’ conduct during flights – may still be cause for concern when it comes to expanding their business.

A new survey conducted by The Harris Poll on behalf of Fast Company reveals:

  • About half (47%) of US adults who have traveled by air in the last 12 months think that the overall flying experience is improving; only 15% note an overall decline.
  • Six in 10 (62%) at least somewhat agree they are often frustrated by other travelers when they fly.
  • Three quarters (76%) at least somewhat agree that they prefer flying over other means of long-distance transportation.

This survey was conducted online in the United States by The Harris Poll from October 20, 2023 to October 23, 2023 among 1,052 US adults, aged 18+. Figures were weighted where necessary to align with actual proportions within the population. For additional information, please contact The Harris Poll.
