Your phone carries your most sensitive moments – the call to a doctor, the code from a bank, the message to your child’s school. Most Americans trust these channels completely. More than eight in ten trust phone calls for sensitive communication, and three-quarters say the same for SMS.

That trust hides a paradox. The same channels people rely on most expose them the most, through the cellular networks beneath the screen where no privacy setting can reach.

Drawing on a survey of more than 2,000 U.S. adults conducted by The Harris Poll and commissioned by Cape, this report uncovers the gap between how protected Americans feel and how protected they actually are. It also reveals a clear opening: nearly two-thirds would switch to a provider offering stronger privacy, with demand peaking at 74% among Millennials.
