The Digital Economy

During the pandemic we are increasingly turning to technology to help us connect, get more done, and feel better. But does it work?

As the global pandemic rages on, and many embark on their second month at home, it’s well documented that both tech-enabled and ‘offline’ behaviors have changed. Americans are figuring out their work from home routine; some have finally tried that online yoga class. Many parents let their children buy Trolls 2 the day it was released – just to get a minute to themselves before a Zoom ‘get together’. Beyond being a practical necessity, are these new behaviors actually making us feel better or more connected? Or do they just serve to remind us that none of this feels normal?
