In early May, Americans were unwilling to travel for the Memorial Day weekend with only 5% saying they would travel for the upcoming holiday.  With more than two months behind us and states in varying phases of reopening, has Americans’ intent to travel changed?

Despite an increase in intent to travel over the next 4 months (+7 points), travel for July 4th is still quite abysmal with less than 1 in 10 (9%) planning to travel for July 4th.  Rises in cases in some states as well as warnings from experts of a second wave in the fall may be deterring folks from travel in 2020.  We continue to see the majority (53%) holding off leisure travel to 2021 and beyond.

Key Takeaway:

With talk of a second wave of the virus pending in the fall, will that deter travel for Labor Day?
